start of something new

Everybody is made to communicate, to reach out. We are made by our Creator to explore the world by all means. It is to end the loneliness life throws us. A text message goes:
I'm restless
I'm depressed
I'm lonely
I'm sad
And I'm getting crazy
and for just
2 reasons
Naa ko diri...(nandito ako)
Ikaw naa diha...(nandyan ka)
Mingaw baya...(nakaka-bore)
So to end this "ka-mingawan" this blog is made. Welcome! This is the official blog of girl scouts of Western Mindanao. By this, we can inform everyone what are the happenings in Western Mindanao region. Enjoy!

Assallahmualaikum!
Malipayong pagbisita sa atong blog...=)

Hi to all Girl Scouts from Western Mindanao Region especially to all GSP from Iligan City Council!

I would like to share with you some thoughts about Scouting.

Scouting is fun and at the same times a learning institution. I believe Scouting is one of the best institutions where a girl will learn to live life.

Scouting develops your personality as a whole. Equips you with the knowledge and skills that are essentials and useful throughout your existence.

The things you will learn in Scouting are far different from the things you learn from the four (4) corners of the classroom.

I'm so grateful that I am a Girl Scout. Though I am not an active scout already but deep inside my heart, I feel that I am still a Girl Scout, living the ideals of a Girl Scout. As a saying goes, "A Scout is Always a Scout!

I can attest to the kind of learning Girl Scouting could give. I'm not saying that all the time scouting is fun and always happy-go-lucky moments. There are times as well that we will meet challenges, hardships, trials or even sacrifices. But, its part of life, wherever you go, these things are part of life you chose to living with.

This is personal experience a scout:

I was once an Active Girl Scout of Iligan City Council (Troop 108. Our troop leader that time was Tita Dalila Wong) way back in High School up to the early part of my college years.

When I enterd high school at Iligan City National High School in the year 2000, I saw a group of girls wearing green uniforms gathering together every friday afternoon. As I observed them every afternoon after my classes, I could see their happy faces, laughing together and singing songs together.

One day, I came to realized that I am now talking to one of the girls wearing the green uniform and telling me how fun is it to join their organization. I am not aware of what Girl Scouts of the Philippines do. (coz there's no scouting in my elementary days - church school kasi).

Scouting month is now approaching and my PE teacher announced that there would be a Regional Encampment in Jardin de las Ninas, Zamboanga City and the encampment is open to all who are interested. So I signed-up and join the camp as a camper. It was really fun.

That's when my scouting life stared there.

From then on, I am active in all activities of girl scouting, attending conferences, seminars, encampments, thinking day ceremonies, Jota and many others.

During encampments, I'm one of the Camp Staffs, Head of the Camp Gazette, Camp Sub-Director, or even as a speaker during the campfire.

I'm eager and determine to achieve the highest rank in scouting, so I join the Chief Girl Scout Scheme where I had a feeding program for one year. It's quite stressful for me that time because I was in 4th yr High School and I'm vying for the honor roll but still through the grace of God and His guidance I was able to meet both my aspirations - to be a Chief Girl Scout and to be part of the honor roll.

The good things doesn't stop there. Because of Girl Scouting, I was awarded by the Regional Soroptismist International as An Outstanding Youth.

And one of the most remarkable and unforgettable I had with scouting is when I was able to go to Taiwan, Republic of China to attend an international camp for three (3) weeks - all expenses paid plus may allowance pa!!!

It was an award given to me by GSP - National Headquarters being the Outstanding Girl Scout of the Philippines year 2000.

The most important learning that Girl Scouting made into my life is the learning on how to live life to the fullest. It's quite broad but it's how I can express it.

I am now happily married person with two cute little angels.

Hope everyone reading this blog, will realize how Girl Scouting made a difference in their lives.

'till here!

Yours truly,
